Natural Volvic lava Cladding for building facades

In cities close to the Volvic quarry you can see numerous buildings clad in the natural lava. In Clermont Ferrand there is the iconic cathedral "the black jewel" built of lava & whos presence has influenced the styling of surrounding buildings for many years. Whilst the lava is still a traditional construction material the skill of architects & designers skillfully re-styling the stone means that it is now a fantastic contemporary cladding offering a strong silent & minimalistic facade & a perfect neutral back drop for colourful signage, lighting & retail products.

The blocks we extract at the quarry are typicaly rectangular & the majority of which yield slab sizes of approx 1200 x 700mm & so this is the most economical way of planning your scheme following naturally occurring sizes in rectangular shapes. Bigger blocks are quite rare & whilst they are available they cannot be considered for extreme quantities.
